In this episode, we talk about how trauma affects our work with Hadassah Vorm, a Trauma Therapist and Business Coach. Vorm, who is an expert in helping people manage their emotions, explains that confronting ourselves is the first step in ensuring we heal and manage our workplace relations.

“Trauma is not related to work; we think it is related because we are triggered by some situations and people, but if you sit down at home, then it is interesting to see what the underlying triggers are,” she explains.

Hadassah: ‘Had I read this book sooner, I would have been kinder to myself’

Sometimes you read a book in which you recognize yourself so much that you can’t let it go. A book never to be forgotten because the story made you think. Or because it changed your life. Hadassah shares which book that is for her.

When Hadassah Vorm ends her marriage, she finds herself alone and penniless on the street. She is forced to leave her children with her husband. Her parents—Jehovah’s Witnesses—also disown her. She claws her way back from total loneliness.

‘As a child, I already knew I was different. I always had to wear neat skirts to school. Trousers were not done for girls. My brothers all had buzzed hair. We didn’t celebrate birthdays. I wasn’t allowed to congratulate children who had a birthday either.

No flower for Hadassah

I remember well that every child who had a birthday in kindergarten had a beautiful crepe paper flower pinned on them. I wasn’t allowed. Handing out treats? Same thing. Because of that, I was an outsider, but I wasn’t afraid to speak my mind. For me, offense was the best defense.

Hadassah Vorm grew up as a child of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
As a six-year-old, she was repeatedly sexually abused, she says. Her perpetrator went free. And according to her, that still happens. ‘The community of Jehovah’s Witnesses provides space for pedophilia.

I was recently interviewed by Felicia Lin, video coach and consultant. She helps entrepreneurs use video marketing strategically through video training and TikTok consulting sessions, among other things.

During a relaxed and beautiful conversation of over 30 minutes, topics such as Suriname, female entrepreneurship, ethnicity, and living a financially independent life were discussed. This conversation is available on Felicia Lin’s YouTube channel.

As an intercultural financial coach, my life’s mission is to help every female entrepreneur who is (still) financially dependent on her partner and feels stuck because of it, find her own voice and confidently express it, so that she and her partner can move forward together in love. The spiritual principles I have integrated into my working method are the foundation from which I work.

Because right now, in these times, everyone is experiencing transformation from an ‘old pattern’ that no longer works. This comes from the ‘new consciousness’ and is guided by something Higher—call it Buddha, G’d, Allah, Nature, or the Universe.
